Keller Paulson is a freelance percussionist and drum set artist from Casper, Wyoming, currently based in Billings, Montana. Along with percussion, Keller also plays piano and composes music on the piano regularly. He earned a Bachelor’s of Music in Jazz Studies and Percussion Performance from Colorado State University in the fall of 2014. He also holds an Associate’s of Arts in music from Northwest College where he studied classical piano, percussion, and jazz. Keller’s teachers and mentors include Dr. Terry Gunderson, Ronnie Bedford, Spencer Martin, Tim Schoessler, Shilo Stroman, Dr. Eric Hollenbeck, Peter Sommer, and Wil Swindler.
Paulson has performed with a diverse group of musicians and bands including Satsang, The O’Connor Brothers Band, Organomatron, Big Sword, Bad Math Band, and many others. Current projects for Keller include Big Sky Trio, Parker Brown and the Bleeding Hearts, Grant Jones Band, and Alex Nauman Organ Trio.
While in Colorado, Keller had the opportunity to share the stage with such artists as John Fedchock and Ingrid Jensen. Other notable artists that Paulson has played with include Ron Blake (trumpet), Nick Mancini, Caleb Quaye, Tim Snider, Matt Harris, Ben Markley, Matt Smiley, Wil Swindler, Peter Sommer, Annie Booth, Ryan Fourt and many others. Paulson has also had the opportunity to open and share the stage with such groups and people as Michael Franti, Trevor Hall, Blitzen Trapper, Nahko and Medicine for the People, and Senator Bernie Sanders.
As a performer, Paulson has toured across the country playing in venues and festivals in over 25 states including Hawaii, Alaska, Florida, New York, California, and many more. As an educator, Paulson has conducted clinics at many middle schools and high schools, has been teaching private lessons since 2007, and is adjunct faculty at Sheridan College. In his free time, Keller enjoys snowboarding, fly-fishing, reading, and watching movies
